Mary Josephine Nasubunga
Mary Josephine was born into a family with 2 siblings. She grew up in her early years with her mother and father. They eventually separated. Both her father and mother remarried. Her father and stepmother had 3 children. Her mother and stepfather had 4 children. Her stepmother was known to practice witchcraft, and eventually her father was killed because of it.
Mary Josephine is the first born. She studied in different schools up to year senior 4 with the help of her aunts and grandmother paying tuition. During a holiday break, she went to visit her aunt, and while there she met a man. They began dating, and she conceived a child. She was scared to come back home, because of what her mother would think. However, her mother found out through family that she was pregnant. Her mother called and told her to come home, and that she would take care of Mary Josephine and her unborn child. Still though, Mary Josephine was terrified of how her mother would react when she arrived. While traveling home, she prayed that she would die before reaching her mother. To her surprise, when she saw her mother, she was welcoming, honoring her words that she would take care of them. Her mother was deeply concerned with the type of man Mary Josephine was dating. She wanted the best life for her daughter and her fear was that this man would abandon her and her child, leaving Mary Josephine to fight in a cycle of poverty alone. Mary Josephine stayed with her mother until she gave birth. After giving birth to a healthy baby girl, things began to change in the home. The offer of help from her mother seemed to have vanished. She was separated from the rest of the family and left to provide for her and her son alone. After realizing what had happened, Mary Josephine decided to leave and marry the father of her child.
In the beginning, their life was good, quickly after marrying. they have birth to their second child, another baby girl. Mary Josephine’s husband was an orphan growing up, and he wanted to have a big family, and she wanted to give him that. So again, shortly after the birth of their second child, Mary Josephine became pregnant. She gave birth to their third daughter. Once she was born, she became pregnant again, this time with a boy. Her husband would not go with her to the hospital and did not help her through this time. When it came time for her to be discharged, her husband had still not shown up. She did not have money to pay for the care that she received. The nurse that had treated her through the entire birthing process, poured out mercy on her, and discretely voided her bill, allowing her to go home. She walked for miles alone, after just giving birth, with her newborn son. A woman witnessed her struggling to walk, and in pain. She have paid for a boda to take her the rest of the way home. This birth was during COVID, so there were some unforeseen health concerns for both Mary Josephine and her son. Because of this, her sister and a family friend came to stay with her to help.
During this period of time, her husband began an affair with the family friend, inside their home. This brought a major amount of pain to Mary Josephine. She loved her husband deeply, and wanted to give him everything he wanted. She went to a family planning clinic and chose to start on birth control. The birth control medication had side affects that made her body in an immense amount of pain. As a result, she had to stop the birth control. Soon after, she again became pregnant with another baby girl. The husband does not claim this child, which brought a new level of heartbreak to Mary Josephine. She has stood by her husband through thick and thin, and even through his unfaithfulness.
